Roof Cleaning - Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire
Why Do I Need My Roof Cleaned?
Mosses, lichens and algae are a major maintenance headache throughout the UK. These external growths dramatically reduce the life expectancy of the roof tiles on which they are growing, giving rise to problems of water penetration.
Not only does moss damage your tiles, it also causes erosion of the mortar joints on your valleys, ridges and chimneys. Moss will also grow up under the laps of the tiles and cause capillary attraction of rainwater resulting in roof leaks.
Many concrete and clay tiles in the UK suffer with unsightly moss and algae growth. Moss, algae and lichens typically appear worse on the most north-facing side of your roof, this is because they thrive in damp, shaded areas. If left untreated, these moss invaders can potentially harm your roofing system.
How Do We Clean Your Roof?
Scrape And Biocide (Soft-Wash)
Firstly, we carry out a visual roof survey to identify the contaminates growing on your home roof and undertake a risk assessment to ensure all health and safety requirements are adhered to.
We cover areas around the roof with suitable covering ready for the moss removing process. We use a specialist roof cleaning blade that fits the profile of your roof tiles, so we can safely and gently drag all the moss down your roof to gutter level.
Once we are satisfied the bulk of the moss has been removed manually, with specialist soft-wash equipment, we apply treatments to kill any moss, algae, fungi and lichens which seep into the organic growths and kill from within. Once applied, the biocide continues to kill any remaining moss, lichens, algae for months to come and prevents them growing back for up to 3 years.
When we have completed the roof clean, we then clear out the gutters removing all remaining debris that may have fallen when cleaning the roof.
All our experienced staff are trained, qualified and insured to be working at height. The soft washing option will clean and restore your roof without the worry of any damage occurring and will also protect the roof from any regrowth for many years to come.
Pressure Washing & Biocide
Firstly, we carry out a visual roof survey and undertake a risk assessment to ensure all health and safety is followed.
Once we are happy all health and safety has been covered and we are happy to proceed, our fully trained technicians will carry out a full roof inspection and check for any loose or cracked tiles before going ahead with the pressure washing. We will also protect your downpipes before getting started and empty all debris from your gutters once we have finished.
Once the tiles have been pressure washed, we apply an Anti-Fungal treatment to prevent any regrowth for a considerable amount of time and as we mentioned previously, all of your gutters will be cleared of any debris from the roof.
